Sobre mi

Who am I?

Ahoy! I’m Nacho Mendez. In this project I will tell you everything I know about traveling independently in Africa.

I’m a biotechnologist and teacher of physics and chemistry.

During my first decade as a traveler, I explored Asia, South America and Oceania. I crossed Asia horizontally, traveling from Shanghai to Europe by land, without taking a plane. The Silk Road is a trip that I would recommend to everyone.

As you can see, I love getting into cultures, but it is very difficult, even in continents like Asia.

However, Africa has been a before and after for me in my time as a traveler.

It is a continent where you can fully immerse yourself in local cultures. If you know how, you can live with people, and learn from them.

That is why I created Towards Africa, to show the world that it is still possible to find wonderful and wild places, far from the neo-colonization of tourism.
